WHAT IS A CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT?

In the health care profession, we commonly call them CNAs. Certified Nurse Assistants perform basic nursing skills such as bathing, feeding, assisting with ambulation, ROM, and other activities of daily living that patients are not able to do for themselves.

WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE OF TRAINEES PASSING THE STATE CERTIFICATION TEST?

We have a very high pass ratio (about 98%) because we strive to teach the basics needed to do good patient care. We understand the difficulty that adult learners sometime have returning to a training setting because of other demands on their time and energy.

WHAT IF A TRAINEE HAS PROBLEMS WITH READING?

We recognize that many excellent CNAs have some difficulty with reading and math skills. The most important thing is the clinical skills and the caring and compassion for the sick and elderly that health care workers must possess if they are truly good at their respective jobs. This is not the case with some other training programs.

DO I NEED A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR A GED?

No. However some job opportunities may require one.

CAN I ATTEND THE TRAINING PROGRAM IF I AM PREGNANT OR RE-COVERING FROM AN ILLNESS OR INJURY?

A student can attend the program if there are no physical limitations that would restrict the student from performing routine care; such as turning/reposition, getting a patient out of bed, feeding, dressing, bathing - anything that a patient would need to make him/her more comfortable.

If you are pregnant or recently recovering from an illness or injury you will need a note from your physician giving you medical clearance before entering the training program.
